Sleepovers

I've always despised them. But every kid needs to have them. And go to them. More then just once.

We've had lots of sleepovers in the DeBacker household.

They don't go to sleep. They keep me awake. I can hear them through the vents.

The next day my children are mean. They are nasty. Have they been possessed by the devil?

I raise my voice at them and I say "You will NEVER have a sleepover again!"

But they still get to have them.

Only now I have discovered that we can have a sleepover without the "sleep".

I have some close friends who I have girls nights with periodically. The fun we have is unexplainable. So this week I thought, "Why can't a kid have a girls night? Why does it always have to be a sleepover?" So I have experimented with Sophie and her two best friends tonight.

I fed them dinner. (Nachos..while watching Hannah Montana)

They acted silly...laughing...joking...

They played a game.

I bought lots of candy for them to snack on.

They went in the hot tub and chatted like grown-ups.

I hooked up the big electric blanket and they are now under it, on the couch in the basement watching a movie on the big screen.

I will make popcorn for them soon.

Then the friends will go home.

Sophie will get a good nights sleep.

And more importantly, I will get a good nights sleep.

Everybody wins.

The man of the hour....actually, the man...period.

The homecoming alumni game at Spring Arbor University consisted of one very talented player...CHRIS DEBACKER....YOU GO BABE!

I love this one. I am his biggest fan...love you.
